ArcelorMittal Long Carbon Brazil
ArcelorMittal Long Carbon is one of Brazil’s biggest producers of long and drawn steel products, which specializes in the production of wire rod for general-use and industrial applications, rolled products for civil construction and drawn products. In Brazil, the current production capacity is in the order of 3.9 million tons of crude steel per year.
ArcelorMittal Long Carbon’s operations are distributed into four sites in the state of Minas Gerais (Juiz de Fora, João Monlevade, Sabará and Itaúna), two sites in São Paulo (one in the capital city and another in Piracicaba) and one in Espírito Santo (Cariacica).
In partnership with Bekaert group, the Company is South America’s leader in the production of wires for the industry and agriculture & cattle farming, with an installed capacity in excess of 800 thousand tons per year. The Company is also among the three main worldwide manufacturers of wire rod for use as tire-reinforcing steel cords.
In this segment, the Company was the first Brazilian steel producer to receive the Ecological Label from ABNT (Brazilian Association for Technical Standards). It is an important certification that makes possible the identification of environmentally-friendly steel products, in compliance with requirements of high eco-efficiency and low socio-environmental impact in civil construction and the industry.
Acindar, in Argentina, ArcelorMittal Costa Rica and ArcelorMittal Point Lisas, in Trinidad & Tobago, are also part of the Long Carbon segment.
ArcelorMittal Flat Steel
ArcelorMittal Tubarão was the world’s first steelmaking company to obtain from the UN the Certified Emissions Reduction (CER) and trade carbon credits in the market. Specializing in flat steel, the Company relies on an integrated production unit located in Vitória’s metropolitan region. Its ideal location and logistical infrastructure favor the availability of input and raw materials, as well as the transport of products to the domestic and foreign markets alike. Since it opened in 1983, a ArcelorMittal Tubarão has made continuous investments to expand its installed capacity while refurbishing its processes and equipment. Currently, it has an installed capacity for 7.5 million tons of steel plates per year, 4 million of which are transformed internally into hot coils. The company occupies a leadership position as a preferred supplier of high-quality steel and also as a promoter of sustainable development, having pioneered actions towards improving the life quality of all its stakeholders.
Transforming steel into cold-rolled products and galvanized products makes ArcelorMittal Vega one of the world’s most modern units for transformation of flat steel with innovative solutions to such industries as automotive, appliances, civil construction, tubes and profiles. Modern processes of lamination and galvanization, coupled with the quality of the steel supply by ArcelorMittal Tubarão, ensure the sustainability of its work and its competitiveness in both the domestic and the foreign steelmaking scenario. ArcelorMittal Vega chose São Francisco do Sul, on the Santa Catarina coast, for its industrial operations, especially due to its strategic location, close to car manufacturers in Brazil and in Mercosur. The company can produce 1.4 million tons of flat steel per year.
Unki of Venezuela
In 2009, ArcelorMittal Brazil took an important step towards consolidating its leadership in the Latin American steelmaking market: the acquisition of Venezuela's Unki. This steelmaking company holds 100% of the capital stock in Unicon, Venezuela's biggest tube producer and main supplier for the sectors of oil and gas, manufacturing and construction, both in the country and abroad. Based in Caracas, the company is a huge consumer of hot-rolled coils used to transform steel into tubes. Its location close to the country’s main seaports offers excellent conditions to obtain raw materials and to transport production.
ArcelorMittal Mineração Brasil is comprised by ArcelorMittal Serra Azul, located in Itatiaiuçu - MG and by the Andrade Mine, in Bela Vista de Minas - MG.
The company has OHSAS 18001:2007 certification.
Serra Azul Mine
Serra Azul Mine has been in operation since 1974 and was acquired by ArcelorMittal in 2008. Its reserves, in Itatiaiuçu - MG, 70 km away from Belo Horizonte, can produce more than 500 thousand tons/year of hot briquetted iron; and 3.3 million tons/year of sinter feed, to supply the Group's companies in Brazil and abroad, in addition to the domestic and transoceanic markets. It also has significant geological potential, with a licensed area of 620 hectares and a base of 1.2 billion tons of potential geological resource. Serra Azul Mine's excellent location allows for easy access to the railroad system and terminal warehousing, ensuring direct connection with the Port of Sepetiba, in Rio de Janeiro.
Located in Bela Vista de Minas, in the so-called Steel Valley, the Andrade Mine supplies ArcelorMittal's mil in Monlevade and in 2011 it started to sell to the domestic market. In 2012, with the expansion of the mine, sinter-feed capacity increased from 1.5 million tons/year to 3.5 million tons/year. Iron ore is mined from an open pit and the raw material is shipped to the mill via railroad. The domestic market, in turn, is supplied via the many highways crisscrossing the region.
ArcelorMittal Steel Distribution and Steel-based Solutions
ArcelorMittal provides clients with safe and sustainable steel-based technologies and solutions for several applications. To live up to its reputation in supplying materials to such segments as civil construction, manufacturing and agribusiness, the Company has distribution and services centers, sales offices and units with unique services in the steelmaking market.
Located in Contagem, Minas Gerais, with a capacity to process 400 thousand tons per year, among tubes, cold-formed profiles, plates, blanks, rolls and tiles. It caters to such sectors as civil construction, manufacturing and automotive. It recently expanded production, with high levels of quality and safety, by installing an additional Slitter and Cut-To-Length.
Specializing in processing cold and hot flat steel as well as pickling, stamping, coating and cutting for specific applications in the automotive sectors, among others. With plants in Campinas, state of São Paulo, and Curitiba, state of Paraná, its capacity is 1.3 million tons per year.
This company holds a prominent market position for metallic coating used in civil construction and for technical assistance with assembly projects and the use of its products. With sales representatives throughout Brazil, its production capacity is 14.4 thousand tons of finished products per year.
Founded in 2000, the distribution network is one of ArcelorMittal's main sales outlets in operation throughout Brazil. Over 100 units sell steel-based solutions to meet the needs of a diversified market consisting of construction supply stores, building companies, plants, sawmills and consumers in general with long, flat, drawn and stainless steel. It has an advanced logistics system for speedy and efficient delivery of its many products, whether in small or large amounts, and its mission is to offer excellence in services.

It is a set of solutions for the structural phase of every type and size, with more quality, productivity and savings.
